Pineal Gland Activation and Decluttering of The Third Eye
Updated: Nov 11, 2020
What is Pineal Gland?
The pineal gland is a tiny, pine cone–shaped organ that is about 1/3 of an inch long and weighs less than 0.2 grams. It is situated deep inside the center of the brain in the epithalamus. It is reddish-grey in color and is primarily made up of pineal cells and neuroglia cells.
What is the Role & Function of the Pineal Gland?
The pineal gland is a part of the endocrine system and helps to regulate melatonin - a chemical produced in the brain that modulates sleep patterns and helps the body to sleep at night. The body produces less melatonin in the day and more during the night.
Acting as the body’s light meter, the pineal gland receives light information from the eyes and then sends out hormonal messages to every part of the body about the time of day and season, the length of daylight, etc., commonly known as the circadian rhythm.
So, the pineal gland’s function is to govern the production of hormones and maintain the circadian rhythm (our sleep/wake cycle). Some scientists claim that the pineal gland also plays a major role in regulating body temperature.
What is the Calcification of Pineal Gland?
Imbalances, such as accumulation of excess fluoride and other mineral deposits (commonly found in most municipal water as well as pesticides) forms phosphate crystals, creating a hard shell around the pineal gland called calcification. This lowers the production of melatonin in the body, messes the reproductive function, and disrupts the circadian rhythm, leading to sleep disturbances.
Therefore, a healthy-functioning pineal is essential for a good night’s sleep, proper biological and brain functioning, peak performance, and perceiving the reality. So, this tiny gland in our brain plays a much bigger role in our lives than previously thought!
How to Decalcify Your Pineal Gland?
To decalcify your pineal gland, or declutter the third eye, you need to take the following three steps:
Avoid intake of certain foods and exposure to environmental factors that cause additional calcification. Eliminate foods from your diet that contain high concentrations of synthetic fluoride, synthetic calcium, chlorine, pesticides, or herbicides.
Remove existing calcification / detoxify your pineal gland by consuming certain decalcifying foods and research-supported detox supplements, such as iodine, Shilajit, Fulvic acid, turmeric, Chaga mushrooms, raw cacao, tamarind, raw apple cider vinegar, boron, raw green foods rich in chlorophyll, and more.
Create an external environment that supports healthy pineal gland functioning, such as:
having quality sleep of seven to nine hours at night
sleeping in total darkness
reducing exposure to blue light and white light in your surroundings (by ditching CFL and LED bulbs, wearing best blue light blocking glasses)
increasing exposure to direct sunlight
listening to audio programs, binaural beats, and isochronic tones that use alpha, theta, and delta brainwave frequencies that support restful, sound sleep.
Pineal Gland and The Third Eye
The pineal gland has long been associated with the idea of the “third eye” - ‘the eye of intuition‘ and a spiritual symbol of all-knowing. It is also called the “seat of the soul” that holds mystical powers. The third eye is portrayed as a psychic eye, located midway between the two physical eyes, that looks inward instead of outward. It is often perceived as the gateway for individuals to enter the astral and psychic dimension of consciousness and achieve liberation.
Why Activate Your Pineal Gland/Third Eye?
By activating your pineal gland, you experience more clarity, decisiveness, focus, intuition, and empathy.
These qualities are associated with higher potential and creativity as well as spiritual and psychological development.
How To Activate Your Pineal Gland?
To activate your pineal gland, or to open your third eye, different methods may be appropriate for different individuals based on type, temperament, and other factors.
Sitting meditation is the most traditional method of activating your third eye and accessing your higher potential. By practicing various meditative techniques, you can stimulate and activate your pineal gland.
So, how does meditation help to activate the pineal gland? The pineal gland is sensitive to the bioelectrical signals of light and dark in its environment. Meditation can amplify this bioelectric energy and direct it to the pineal gland, thereby stimulating it and helping it open.
During meditation, when you rest your attention on the third eye region just above and between your two eyes, you focus your internal energy in this region. This relaxed focus releases chemicals like neuropeptides and nitric oxide, which trigger the relaxation response and allow you to move into deep meditation while stimulating the third eye region.
Sun-gazing is a powerful, ancient technique that offers tremendous benefits. While sun gazing during sunrise and sunset, you absorb the energy of the sun directly through your eyes and skin. This absorption supports your efforts to activate your pineal gland. Also, sun-gazing barefoot helps you to get the added benefits of grounding. Direct sunlight reduces the harmful effects of artificial blue light and helps us restore the original size and function of our pineal gland.
Qigong is all about “life energy cultivation” or “energy skill.” Qigong exercises are designed to increase your sensitivity to the flow of energy within the body, called chi (or qi). Using qigong’s gentle physical motions, breathing techniques, and application of mind or intent, you can learn to move this energy to reach vital glands in the endocrine system. This circulation of the body’s energy helps to open blocked pathways, have the energy reach these areas, and activate the pineal gland.
Brainwave Entrainment/Brainwave Synchronization:
Our brain operates on a range of brainwave patterns, and each establishes a particular state of consciousness. The following are the most commonly quoted brainwave frequencies and their respective state of consciousness:
Brainwave Frequency State of Consciousness
Gamma (40-100 Hertz) Ecstatic experiences
High Beta (22-40 Hertz) Anxiety, Nervousness
Low Beta (14-22 Hertz) Focus, Alertness
Alpha (8-14 Hertz) Physical relaxation, meditative state
Theta waves (4-8 Hertz) Deeply relaxed
Delta (0.5-4 Hertz) Deep (dreamless) sleep, deepest meditation
Brainwave entrainment audio programs are a combination of binaural beats and isochronic tones created to induce a particular state of consciousness by entraining the brain to the frequencies of the sounds. So, brainwave entrainment does facilitate a change in brainwave patterns and has a therapeutic effect.
So, which brainwave patterns support pineal gland activation? Delta waves- the brain waves we experience during deep sleep, are consistent with the production of the pineal gland’s main chemical: melatonin.
So, the use of binaural beats and isochronic tones for activation of delta, theta, and gamma frequencies
helps to activate your pineal gland.
Visualization is another way to expand the power of your pineal gland and the third eye center. In yoga philosophy, the Ajna chakra, or the third eye, is the color indigo - a deep blue-purple color. In color visualization, you envision this color at the space between your brows or deep back into the brain where the pineal gland resides. By such color visualization, you further activate your “Ajna chakra” or the “command center.”
Other Activation Methods:
Other known methods to activate your pineal gland include:
Eating cleansing foods
Consuming detox supplements
